Game Preview: Tennessee Titans V Houston Texans

If it feels like we just did this it’s because we did. The Titans look to keep rolling after a huge win over the Buffalo Bills. The Houston Texans come into Nissan Stadium looking to steady the ship after a rocky start to the season. To break it down and preview what’s going to happen we MUST do what we MUST do…

PROS:

  • Health. The Titans should a have a few more players back from the Covid list including defense lineman Jefferey Simmons who has arguably been the defensive MVP.
  • Derrick Henry stiff arms. Seriously that was the most electric 5 yard to be called back for a penalty ever
  • AJ Brown. The second year wide out picked up exactly where he left out. Hopefully he keeps getting healthier and tearing defenses apart
  • Jonnu Smith. Speaking of receivers making big impacts. Smith is arguably the Titans most dangerous weapon, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (no relation) keeps finding ways to utilize him.
  • Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill has quietly been putting up MVP numbers since becoming the starter last season. I keep waiting for him to come back down to earth, but it seems he is legit. He just needs to make sure he doesn’t tear his acl on a touchdown celebration

CONS:

  • Health/injuries/short week. Having played Tuesday night the Titans have a quick turnaround, and almost half the team seems to be on the injury report. Hopefully most will be available, Adoree Jackson, Corey Davis and Darrynton Evans are all likely out.
  • No Bill Obrian. The Texans fired their coach two weeks too early for the Titans good. He really brought their talented roster down. No surprise they won their first game the week after his firing.
  • Deshaun Watson. Dude is a beast. He could eat the Titans defense alive

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Texans 31-21

It’ll be fun though

I think the combo of a short week, and Texans having the new coach bounce will bring the Titans back down to earth. This has the all the feel of a let down game coming off a big win against the Bills. I hope I’m wrong.
